The Kitchen Project

In such a small kitchen, it's nice to provide a space were people can sit and keep the cook/s company. We clamped up some scraps to the framing to get a feel for how the counter will perform--works great, can't wait. Ran CAT5 to the wall on the left side so someone can surf the Internet to find a dessert recipe. Not to worry, the cabinets aren't going to stay this color. We'll probably remove the door that leads to the mudroom and put some kind of heavy curtain there. Behind the door is the washer/dryer that we're hoping to move into the mud room and turn that space into a butler's pantry. The stove will move to the right side. The next frontier

Reverse angle Looking out from the kitchen toward the living room gives you a sense of the new space. Remember to picture columns at the ends of the wing walls. Picture real switches on the ends of the wires...

It came time to nuke the kitchen. Since it shared a wall with the bathroom, it made sense to do both at the same time. The window above where the sink used to be will be replaced with a taller one we found at a salvage yard. This is a pretty dark room and the more light, the better. (Notice plywood patch covering original bathroom doorway to the right). Ex-kitchen

Camping out For the most part, the living & dining rooms are done. The d.r. makes a decent temporary kitchen.
